Frequently asked questions

How do I check my internet speed in Pakistan?

Press GO at the top of this page. The test measures ping and jitter first, then download speed for about 10 seconds and upload speed for about 8 seconds. Close downloads, streaming apps and other devices first so the result shows what your line can actually do.

What is a good internet speed in Pakistan?

For one or two people, 10–20 Mbps download is enough for HD streaming and video calls. A family that streams, games and works from home will be comfortable on 50 Mbps or more of fiber. For gaming, ping under 50 ms matters more than raw speed. See how much internet speed you need.

Why is my speed test result lower than my package?

Packages are sold as a maximum "up to" speed. WiFi distance, an old router, busy evening hours, other devices on the network and international link problems all reduce what you see. Test on a cable to your router to separate WiFi problems from ISP problems. Our guide on why internet is slow walks through each cause.

Is this speed test free and safe?

Yes. It runs entirely in your browser, needs no app, account or sign-up, and saves your recent results only on your own device.

Does the speed test work on Jazz, Zong, Telenor and Ufone 4G?

Yes. It works on any connection, including mobile data. A full test can use 100–400 MB on fast connections, so on a limited data bundle use the ping test or test less often.

Which server does the test use?

Tests run against Cloudflare's global network, which automatically picks the nearest edge location. The server used is shown under the results. Read more in our testing methodology.

What is the difference between Mbps and MB/s?

Mbps is megabits per second; MB/s is megabytes per second. 8 bits make 1 byte, so 8 Mbps ≈ 1 MB/s. A 20 Mbps package downloads at about 2.5 MB/s. Full explanation.

How do I complain about slow internet?

First register a complaint with your ISP and keep the reference number. If it is not resolved, you can complain to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority. Step-by-step guide.

Why is internet slow in all of Pakistan at the same time?

Nationwide slowdowns are usually caused by damage to an international submarine cable or by network restrictions. How cable cuts affect your internet.

Does a VPN make internet faster?

Usually no. A VPN adds distance and encryption overhead. It can help only in rare cases where your ISP slows a specific service. Read more.
