How Our Speed Test Works
Which server is used?
The test runs against Cloudflare's public speed-test endpoints. Cloudflare uses anycast routing, so your requests go automatically to a nearby edge location. The location code (for example KHI for Karachi or a nearby Gulf city) is shown as "Server" under your result.
How is ping measured?
We send a series of empty HTTP requests one after another. The first is discarded because it includes connection setup. Ping is the lowest remaining round-trip time; jitter is the average difference between consecutive round trips.
How is download speed measured?
Four parallel streams download data continuously for 10 seconds. The first 1.5 seconds are excluded so TCP "slow start" does not drag the result down. Speed is the bytes received after that warm-up, divided by time.
How is upload speed measured?
Three parallel streams upload 2 MB blocks of data repeatedly for 8 seconds. Speed is the total bytes sent divided by time.
Why do different speed test sites give different results?
Each test site uses different servers, a different number of streams and different rules for discarding warm-up data. A server inside your ISP's own network will often show higher speeds than one reached through an international link. Compare results from the same tool over time, not across tools.
What data do you keep?
None on our side. Your last 10 results are stored only in your own browser. See the privacy policy.
