What is a ping test?
A ping test measures latency: the time in milliseconds (ms) for a small message to travel from your device to a server and back. This tool sends 20 tiny requests, reports the lowest round-trip time as your ping, and reports the average change between requests as your jitter.
What is a good ping in Pakistan?
| Ping | Rating | Feels like |
|---|---|---|
| 0–30 ms | Excellent | Instant. Ideal for competitive gaming. |
| 30–60 ms | Good | Smooth gaming and calls. |
| 60–100 ms | Fair | Playable; slight delay in fast shooters. |
| 100–200 ms | Poor | Noticeable lag; voice calls may talk over each other. |
| 200+ ms | Bad | Rubber-banding in games, frozen video calls. |
The ping here is measured to the nearest Cloudflare edge, which is usually inside or near Pakistan. Game servers are often further away: many PUBG Mobile and Valorant players in Pakistan connect to Middle East servers (Bahrain or Dubai), which typically adds tens of milliseconds compared with a local server.
Why is my ping high?
- WiFi interference — the most common cause of jitter at home. Plug in with a LAN cable or move to the 5 GHz band (2.4 vs 5 GHz explained).
- Someone else is downloading — a big download or video upload fills your line and makes ping jump (called bufferbloat).
- Mobile data — 4G ping is usually higher and less stable than fiber.
- International routing — when a submarine cable is damaged, traffic takes longer routes and ping rises nationwide.
- VPN — a VPN server far away adds its distance to every request (does a VPN slow internet?).
Ping vs download speed: which matters more for gaming?
For gaming, ping and jitter matter more. Online games send small amounts of data constantly, so even 5 Mbps is enough bandwidth, but a ping of 150 ms will feel slow on any package. Downloading game updates is where download speed matters.
Frequently asked questions
Does the ping test use a lot of data?
No. It sends about 20 tiny requests that together use well under 1 MB.
Why is my ping different in games?
Games measure ping to their own servers, which may be in another country. This tool measures to the nearest Cloudflare server, so it shows the best case your line can achieve.
Which is better for low ping in Pakistan, fiber or 4G?
Fiber (FTTH) almost always gives lower and steadier ping than 4G or DSL. See fiber vs DSL vs 4G.
